The Facilities Assistant Manager is the go-to teammate for keeping our distribution center running like a well-oiled machine. Working side by side with the Facilities Manager, they help oversee everything from the nuts and bolts of daily maintenance to the big-picture improvements that keep our space safe, efficient, and ready for action.

Whether it's making sure material handling equipment and automated systems are in top shape, keeping the lights on (literally), or helping upgrade our space with exciting new projects, this role is all about staying one step ahead. The Facilities Assistant Manager also helps lead our amazing custodial team to ensure every corner of the building is clean, fresh, and work-ready.

Responsibilities

Operational

  • Assists with the management and training of facilities/maintenance employees to fulfil the needs of the department on all shifts. This includes preventative and corrective maintenance, cleaning and sanitation, and general capital improvements to the facility.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to building management regarding updates or changes related to increasing the efficiency or effectiveness of the operation.
  • Well versed in Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and Arc Flash requirements, assisting in ensuring team members are properly trained and follow all Safety guidelines.
  • In collaboration with the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Assistant Manager will:
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to building management regarding updates or changes related to increasing the efficiency or effectiveness of the operation.
  • Manage facilities and maintenance budgets to achieve financial goals.
  • Collaborate with operations to schedule critical equipment downtime to perform maintenance ensuring efficient and effective flow of the systems necessary to meet customer demand and operational metrics.
  • Maintain our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for the completion of time/meter-based preventative maintenance checklists and corrective actions on all building equipment and assets needed for the facility's operation.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory, through the CMMS, keeping accurate counts to reduce downtime and assist in cost analysis of operation.
  • Coordinate response to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Facilitate the repair and maintenance of conveyor belts/automation within the facility to a high degree of excellence, ensuring a smooth operation on all shifts.
  • Obtain estimates for the supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects.
  • Has knowledge of general building maintenance and repair to include electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry.
  • Supervise replacement and addition of warehouse pallet racking when necessary, ensuring proper anchoring and adherence to safety measures.
  • Complete weekly, quarterly & annual tests on fire suppression and related monitoring equipment
  • Organize the repair of items under warranty from the manufacturer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

People

  • Ensure the timely completion of all employee performance reviews and provide frequent and constructive feedback to all team members in accordance with the Great Employees Only philosophy. 
  • Interact with employees regularly to promote a high level of engagement and ensure all safety regulations are followed.   
  • Promptly complete all admin duties relating to employee management to the expected standard.

Leadership

  • Collaborate with the leadership team within the building to meet the needs of the DC and foster a team mentality.
  • Work with the Facilities Manager and Team Leads to create development plans for employees to maintain engagement and develop a leadership bench.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and honesty, embodying the core values of the company and modeling them for our employees.
  • Serve as a leader not only for the assigned department, but for the entire distribution center, holding peers, managers and employees accountable to expectations.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • We require a business proficiency in the ability to rea, write and communicate in English.


Work Hours

1A: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday: 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a maintenance or facilities environment; forklift certification preferred. 
  • Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair, including HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electricity, etc.; including use of power tools, reading schematics, blueprints, and instructions.

Education

  • Work a full shift which could range from 8-10 hours.
  • Follow all codes of conduct, safety parameters, productivity, and quality standards, as well as attendance policy.
  • Complete and pass all equipment training
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office- primarily excel, word and teams.
