Job Summary

The Equipment Metal Fabrication Specialist is responsible for fabricating, modifying, and preparing sheet metal components used in commercial food service projects. This role works closely with project managers and installation teams to ensure custom metalwork is accurately fabricated, safely transported, and ready for on-site installation. They will also work within a warehouse setting performing general warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, preparing outbound shipments, & preparing equipment for installation. It is expected the time worked will be split 50% metal fabrication & 50% warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Fabricate and modify sheet metal according to project specifications and blueprints.
  • Collaborate with warehouse & project managers to determine fabrication needs for each job.
  • Prepare and package fabricated components for safe transport to job sites as necessary.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials and equipment.
  • Build custom crating and supports for equipment transportation.
  • Operate forklifts safely (training provided).
  • Support general warehouse operations and fill in for team members as needed.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.

This role may work in a warehouse and on construction job sites. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal. All required Personal Protective Equipment will be provided by the company.  

Qualifications

Experience

  • Metal fabrication experience is preferred, but not required.

Education

  • Must successfully complete training and demonstrate the ability to safely operate a forklift. Prior experience is a plus but not required.
  • Requires the ability to pass and maintain a Department of Transportation certification for box truck driving.
