Job Summary
The Facilities Manager oversees the daily preventative/corrective maintenance in their assigned facility while prioritizing a safe work environment. They are responsible for the proper operation of all company-owned assets such as material handling equipment, conveyor belts, air handling units, lights, electrical systems, plumbing and general maintenance of shared office areas, including any capital improvements. Reporting directly to the DC General Manager, the Facilities Manager maintains a deep understanding of operational protocols, aiming to enhance the efficiency of the DC and help problem-solve challenges presented by employees and members of the leadership team. They also oversee the general cleanliness and sanitation of the facility via a custodial team.

Responsibilities

Operational
- Supervise up to 15 facilities/maintenance employees to fulfill the needs of the department on all shifts. This includes preventative and corrective maintenance, cleaning and sanitation and general capital improvements to the facility.
- Provide guidance and recommendations to building management regarding updates or changes related to increasing the efficiency or effectiveness of the operation.
- Coordinate the services from 3rd party contractors, including quoting, scheduling and management while they are on site, operating as the main point of contact. This includes all ongoing services such as landscaping, snow removal etc.
- Ensure completion of daily, weekly, and monthly PM’s on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Supervise repairs of electrical equipment and control circuits; replacement of faulty electrical switches and routine electrical repairs such as light fixtures.
- Identify and oversee basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; opening of clogged lines and drains; replacement of seals and other minor parts; maintenance of drinking fountains; repair, replacement, and maintenance of hot water heaters and other appliances as needed.
- Coordinate response to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Facilitate the repair and maintenance of conveyor belts/automation within the facility to a high degree of excellence, ensuring a smooth operation on all shifts.
- Supervise replacement and addition of warehouse pallet racking when necessary, ensuring proper anchoring and adherence to safety measures.
- Ensure completion of weekly tests on fire pump and related equipment.
People
- Ensure the timely completion of all employee performance reviews and provide frequent and constructive feedback to all team members in accordance with the Great Employees Only philosophy.
- Interact with employees regularly to promote a high level of engagement and ensure all safety regulations are followed.
- Promptly complete all admin duties relating to employee management to the expected standard.
Leadership
- Collaborate with the leadership team within the building to meet the needs of the DC and foster a team mentality.
- Create development plans for employees to generate engagement and a leadership bench, with a focus on Team Leaders.
- Maintain a high level of integrity and honesty, embodying the core values of the company and modeling them for our employees.
- Serve as a leader not only for the assigned department, but for the entire distribution center, holding peers, managers and employees accountable to expectations.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a maintenance or facilities environment; forklift certification preferred.
- Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair, including HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electricity, etc. Experience in use of power tools, and in reading schematics, blueprints, and instructions.
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education
