Job Summary

The Merchandising Operations Lead is responsible for supporting the execution of in-store merchandising strategies with a strong emphasis on procurement alignment and operational efficiency. This role serves as a key connector between merchandising, procurement, analytics, and store operations teams to ensure that promotional initiatives are executed seamlessly, inventory flow is optimized, and strategic merchandising goals are met.

This individual will manage promotional calendars, lead the planning of visual displays, and play a pivotal role in item lifecycle management, all while driving cross-functional collaboration and continuous process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the in-store promotional calendar in alignment with procurement timelines, marketing campaigns, and inventory availability.
  • Collaborate with procurement, analytics, and store teams to develop merchandising strategies that maximize sell-through and reduce excess inventory.
  • Plan and coordinate execution of endcaps, impulse displays, and sales contests, ensuring alignment with vendor agreements and promotional objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison between Store Operations and Visual Merchandising to support consistent and accurate execution across all store locations.
  • Lead item lifecycle activities including new item approvals, SKU rationalization, and product transitions in partnership with buyers and store leadership.
  • Maintain proactive communication with store teams and internal stakeholders to ensure clarity on timelines, expectations, and merchandising standards.
  • Monitor and report on performance of key merchandising initiatives to inform flyer planning, inventory positioning, and store layout decisions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements related to merchandising SOPs and execution strategies, with a focus on high-velocity or complex-to-merchandise items.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while sitting/standing and interfacing with a personal computer.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires occasional bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50lbs.

The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in retail, procurement, supply chain, or merchandising operations.

Education

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to simplify complex topics for a variety of audiences
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence; able to navigate ambiguity and challenges with professionalism
  • Highly organized with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and service-first mindset
  • Experience in procurement, vendor management, inventory planning, product lifecycle management, and in-store merchandising execution is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and project management tools is a plus
