Job Summary

The Facilities Manager oversees the daily preventative/corrective maintenance in their assigned DC while prioritizing a safe work environment. They are responsible for the proper operation of all company-owned assets such as material handling equipment, conveyors, packaging equipment, HVAC units, lighting & electrical systems, plumbing, and general maintenance of shared office areas, including any capital improvements. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Facilities Manager maintains a deep understanding of operational protocols, aiming to enhance the efficiency of the DC and help problem-solve challenges presented by employees and members of the leadership team. They also oversee the general cleanliness and sanitation of the facility via a custodial team.

Responsibilities

Operational

  • Supervise at least 15 facilities/maintenance employees to fulfil the needs of the department on all shifts. This includes preventative and corrective maintenance, cleaning and sanitation and general capital improvements to the DC.
  • Well versed in Lock Out/Tag Out procedures, ensuring team members are properly trained and follow all Safety guidelines.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to building management regarding updates or changes related to increasing the efficiency or effectiveness of the operation.
  • Manage facilities and maintenance budgets to achieve financial goals.
  • Collaborate with operations to schedule critical equipment downtime to perform maintenance ensuring efficient and effective flow of the systems necessary to meet customer demand and operational metrics.
  • Maintain our maintenance management system for the completion of maintenance checklists and corrective actions on all building equipment and assets needed for the facility's operation.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory, keeping accurate counts to reduce downtime and assist in cost analysis of operation.
  • Maintain employee and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate response to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Facilitate the repair and maintenance of conveyor belts/automation within the facility to a high degree of excellence, ensuring a smooth operation on all shifts.
  • Obtain estimates for the supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects.
  • Vendor Management through bidding, contract negotiation, establishing SOPs and follow-up as needed to ensure all work is completed to standard.
  • Knowledge of general building maintenance and repair to include electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry.
  • Coordinate the services from 3rd party contractors, including quoting, scheduling and management while they are on site, operating as the main point of contact. This includes all ongoing services such as landscaping, snow removal etc.
  • Supervise replacement and addition of warehouse pallet racking when necessary, ensuring proper anchoring and adherence to safety measures.
  • Complete weekly, quarterly & annual tests on fire suppression and related monitoring equipment
  • Organizing the repair of items under warranty from the manufacturer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ensure the timely completion of all employee performance reviews and provide frequent and constructive feedback to all team members in accordance with the Ideal Team Player philosophy.
  • Interact with employees regularly to promote a high level of engagement and ensure all safety regulations are followed.
  • Promptly complete all admin duties relating to employee management to the expected standard.



Leadership

  • Collaborate with the leadership team within the building to meet the needs of the DC and foster a team mentality.
  • Communicates effectively and partners with the DCGM and Leadership team at the assigned DC.
  • Creates development plans for employees to generate engagement and a leadership bench.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and honesty, embodying the core values of the company and modeling them for our employees.
  • Serve as a leader not only for the facilities department, but for the entire distribution center, holding peers, managers and employees accountable to expectations.



SHIFT SCHEDULE

Monday - Thursday

7:00am - 5:30pm



WAGE

Starting wage is $91,000 DOE

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.


Physical Requirements

  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a facilities or maintenance-related role within a distribution center or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance and repair, including HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, electrical troubleshooting, and industrial equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical instructions.
  • Forklift certification preferred.

Education

  • Must be 18 or older
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
