Job Summary
As a Styling Intern with a Culinary focus, you will gain hands-on experience assisting our food styling team to create visually compelling and appetizing styled food. This paid internship provides exposure to real-world culinary work, mentorship from experienced professionals, and opportunities to build your skills. You’ll assist with food styling, kitchen and grocery organization and culinary skills while learning industry best practices.

Responsibilities
- Collaborates effectively and supports a positive, team-oriented environment.

- Assist with dishwashing and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment.
- Receive and organize groceries based on production schedule and assist on prep.
- Assist on simple food prep and transport food to set.
- Build on foundational culinary skills through hands-on experience.
- Attend weekly pre-production meetings and follow a weekly production schedule.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed while sitting/standing and interfacing with a personal computer.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires occasional bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Requires the ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50lbs.
Work Environment
- Work part-time hours for this in-studio position. (Tuesday and Wednesday availability a must)
- Stand, squat, reach and lift to 50lbs.
- Ability to perform repetitive movements including but not limited to stirring, whisking, chopping and other knife skills, broiling, roasting, grilling, baking, searing, sautéing, pan-frying, stir frying and deep-fat frying.
- Commercial kitchen setting that includes a ventilation system, commercial dishwasher, and professional equipment.
- Commercial photo and video studio settings. Low light photo and video studio environments.
- Encounter exposure to; flashing lights from strobes, standard commercial kitchen cleaners and loud noises (ex: vacuum, commercial kitchen hood)
Qualifications
Experience
- Students enrolled in a continuing education program.
- General understanding and interest in building technical kitchen skills, culinary arts, and the foodservice industry.
Education
- This role does not require a degree. We value relevant skills and experience and alignment with our core values above all else.
Desired Traits & Skills
- General understanding of kitchen organization, food prep and food safety practices.
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established safety procedures.
- Communicates effectively both in person and through Microsoft tools such as Teams, Outlook and Loop.
